Helsinki Cup in a nutshell
In 2026, the Helsinki Cup will be held for the 51st consecutive year, further strengthening its position as one of the world’s largest junior football tournaments.
Despite exceptional circumstances, the tradition of the Helsinki Cup continues strong, demonstrating the event’s importance as a summer highlight for many children and young people. In 2025, the tournament featured 1,806 teams — 310 in the girls’ categories and 1,496 in the boys’ categories — bringing together a total of 30,000 players.
A truly international event, the tournament welcomed 84 teams from 20 different countries.
Sports for the entire city
The Helsinki Cup reflects throughout the city in July. In addition to the players, a large group of coaches, team staff, parents, and other supporters will arrive in Helsinki. The event is not just a football tournament; it is a community festival that brings the joy of sports and togetherness to every corner of the city.
A tournament that is an experience
While football has always been and will always be at the heart of our tournament, we have expanded our offerings.
Today, the Helsinki Cup is a comprehensive experience that includes much more than just matches. The tournament week features opening events with parades, as well as the diverse event square at the Love the Ball Center Käpylä. Additionally, the traditional Helsinki Cup festival brings the juniors together for an evening filled with music. This event, featuring top performers, is held in the middle of the tournament week as usual.
