Meet the Helsinki Cup mascot, Heppu!

1.7.2026

Helsinki Cup’s very own mascot, Heppu, is making their first ever public appearance in this year’s tournament. Heppu will be sharing the joy of football and youth sports starting from when the tournament office opens on Wednesday 1.7.2026. Heppu’s round around the tournament’s field areas will go into full swing on the tournament week itself.

Helsinki Cup’s news editorial staff reached out to Heppu for a short interview.

Are you nervous for your first Helsinki Cup?

Heppu: New things can naturally be a bit scary, but first and foremost I am excited!

After football, what is your favorite sport?

H: In this summer heat, I like to cool off by swimming, so that is my answer.

What would you like to say to a first-time Helsinki Cup attendee? How about a more experienced tournament-goer?

H: To a first-timer, my advice is to enjoy the games, make new friends with an open mind, and use your down time during the week to get to know the city. The more experienced, I challenge to try something in the Love the Ball Center, that wasn’t there last year, or something they didn’t have the chance to try last time. To everyone, I say: be the best and friendliest supporter to others, on and off the pitch.

Will you be returning to the pitch in the coming years?

H: Definitely! It is an honor to be a part of the legacy of Helsinki Cup, and I am glad that even after more than five decades, the tournament can be developed and improved upon. I am excited for my upcoming years in the Cup. Perhaps I will still be around at the 100th anniversary.

You can find Heppu and give them a high-five and take a picture with them on the different field areas!

Every football fan, regardless of age, is encouraged to come and say hello to Heppu freely.
